I have played piano for almost 9 years now, and I want to start writing my own stuff to go with lyrics I’ve already written. I’m just not sure how to go about it. I fiddle with things that sound good but then I can’t remember exactly what it was I played. Does anyone have any suggestions? I’m really eager to get going on this, if anyone can help. My old piano teacher suggested recording it and playing it back but I have a horrible ear and can’t pick out what it is. I can’t play by ear (which sucks for a musician. I don’t know why that is either.) Does anyone have any tips for writing piano music? Please give some suggestions if you can.
I don’t want to write something boring or old, I don’t want to copy off other people. I’m just unsure how to go about this whole process.

I remember it was played on Friday’s alot. It had alot of piano from what I remember and was a upbeat little song with very little lyrics. The only lyrics that I can recall are "Ahhh beep, beep…" Im not sure if it was just a local song for the station or if it was a song, song that was played nationwide. Thank you for your help! =)
